"I am the good shepherd.
The good shepherd gives
his life for his sheep."
John 10:11
OUR VISION
The Institute of the Good Shepherd has been entrusted by the Holy See with the specific mission of sharing the liturgical and doctrinal treasures of the Catholic Tradition within the Church. To this end, the priests of the Institute are at the service of all dioceses in their traditional apostolate. The Institute's mission is first characterised by the exclusive use, in all of its liturgical acts, of the traditional roman liturgical books of 1962. Keeping in line with the directives of the instruction Universae Ecclesiae (2011), the Institute aims to give access to the richness of the Usus Antiquior to all the faithful. This, in turn, will help them take part in a renewal of Christian fervour for evangelisation which, in order to be fruitful, must always be rooted in Tradition.
OUR COMMUNITY
The Institute of the Good Shepherd is a Society of Apostolic Life of Pontifical Right established in 2006 under the pontificate and with the support of Pope Benedict XVI. The members of the Institute are secular priests who live a community life in the houses of the Institute. The sacerdotal spirituality of the Institute is based on the qualities of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, who never ceases to go after his lost sheep, and does so with a pastoral zeal filled both with charity and mercy. The goal of the Institute is the sanctification of its members and the sanctification of the souls for the greater glory of God.

Traditional liturgy, and a theological formation based on the doctrine of Saint Thomas Aquinas - so often recommended by the Popes and the later Councils of the Church - are some of the irreplaceable resources that our Institute offers to its seminarians and priests to ensure a solid formation. Also, our Institute's apostolate is very diverse: whether it be at parishes, chaplaincies, schools, spiritual retreats, or charities, our Society cherishes whatever brings the greatest spiritual good to the souls that are under the care of our priests. As of today, the Institute has houses in five countries: France, Poland, Italy, Brazil, and Colombia. And with your help, support and prayers, it will now be able to develop its house in North America.
